The LGBT Academy of Recording Arts

LARA, also known as OUTMUSIC, was founded in 1990.  The Academy is an alliance of recording artists, musicians, composers, producers, performers and supporters who are dedicated to the advancement of underrepresented out & proud LGBT recording artists and performers in the music & entertainment industry.

LARA works to raise awareness and ensure that the LGBT community’s contributions to music history are acknowledged, documented, celebrated and archived.

OUTMUSIC’s voting members select nominees & honor winners for their achievements and contributions with an OUTMUSIC Award trophy during the OUTMUSIC Awards Ceremony, produced annually.

OUTMUSIC is a 501c3 non profit, charitable foundation that serves as an advocacy and awareness platform, and offers programming to support its mission to promote the advancement and appreciation of LGBT music culture & heritage,create opportunities to support the development of young aspiring artists, increase the viability and visibility of the LGBT music & entertainment platform and honor, document & archive the contributions and achievements of out and proud LGBT music artists.
